AWARDS AND ACHIEVEMENTS

The West Vic Division was proud to be recognised by two industry awards in 2007. The Division was a national finalist in The Australian Human Resources Institute for Excellence and winner of two categories at the local Powercor Grampians Pyrenees Business Achievement Awards.

The accreditation process encouraged Division staff to enter the awards to benchmark itself against other organisations and learn new strategies for improving systems and strategies.

Executive Officer Sally Philip says the acknowledgements resonate deeper to the organisation than trophies on a shelf. “These awards are a credit to the vision of the Board who clearly understand that having highly qualified and motivated staff is pivotal in delivering quality services to our GP members and their practices.”

“And at the end of the day, it’s our members who benefit from a strong Division with supported staff and innovative programs,” Ms Philip said, “that is all that really matters.”

Australian Human Resources Institute Awards for Excellence

The Australian Human Resources Institute Awards for Excellence acknowledged the Division’s exceptional human resources strategy in November 2007. The People Management category recognises companies that have achieved outstanding outcomes for the organisation and its stakeholders, including its employees.

Sally Philip said that while the West Vic Division did not win, she was honoured the Division was recognised as a State winner and one of only three National finalists.

“The standard of companies represented at the awards was outstanding. Most organisations had dedicated HR staff that help management grow the business. As a small organisation, West Vic had to find ways to implement successful HR strategies without a dedicated HR team. It is an honour to be recognised for our hard work,” Ms Philip said.

Powercor Grampians Pyrenees Business Achievement Awards

Also in November 2007, the Division received two accolades from the Powercor Grampians Pyrenees Business Achievement Awards in the categories “Recommended Employer” and “Health and Community Services” for the Division’s Mental Health program.

Sally Philip acknowledged the importance of being recognised within the area for services we provide the community. The award acknowledged the hard work and dedication to the program by the staff and the need for mental health services in the region.

Team Coordinator Leanne Jeffrey spoke on behalf of the Mental Health team.

“The Mental Health Script team are delighted to have been given this award and the public recognition of our program and its value,” Ms Jeffrey said. “The demand for the service is overwhelming from our GPs and the community."
