AGED CARE

The West Vic Division has a higher than national average population of people over 65 years old. The Division recognised the burden of care placed on local GPs to meet this growing need must be addressed.

Aged Care Access Intiative

This project aims to ensure better access to primary care (GP and allied health services) for residents of aged care facilities. The Aged Care Access Intiative supports improving access to these services through the Practice Incentive Program (PIP) to encourage GPs to provide more services in Residential Aged Care Facilities (RACFs). It also supports clinical care provided by allied health professional in RACFs where these services are not currently covered by Medicare or other government funding arrangements.

The services of a accredited dietitian were contracted to provide clinical services to individuals residing in low level RACFs.
