VACANCY DETAILS

The Patrick Street Family Practice in Stawell is seeking a full time GP (6-10 sessions per week). The practice has VMO rights to Stawell Regional Health and provides services to outpatients, inpatients and aged care facilities. Obstetrics procedural skills would be highly regarded but are not essential. Participation in the after hours on-call roster shared between practices (1:6) is expected.

The practice will ensure the successful GP receives a detailed orientation and induction into the practice and local health facilities and ongoing support and mentorship is available. The GP and family will be assisted to settle into a welcoming community by the practice and the West Vic Division of General Practice with assistance accessing accommodation, schooling, community support services, sporting and special interest groups and social opportunities.

THE PACKAGE

The successful GP will be engaged as an employee. An attractive package is on offer that will provide an anticipated annual income of between $200K and $250K. The package also includes 6 weeks annual leave, generous sick leave, long service leave, 2 weeks study leave and superannuation. Incentives on offer include housing assistance, paid indemnity insurance and relocation expense subsidy. A long term contract is available. After hours payment rates are $165 per week day, $220 a day on weekends and $260 a day for public holidays.

PRACTICE PROFILE

The Patrick Street Family Practice is a new computerised practice located in a new $20 million building together with community and allied health care organisations. Currently 2 doctors, 1 full-time and 1 part-time, are supported by a practice manager, practice nurse and a helpful administration team.

Practice hours are Monday - Friday 8.30 am - 5.30 pm and Saturday and Sunday 9am - 1pm if on call. Commitment to the after hours on-call roster shared between practices is 1:6. The major patient health issues that impact on the practice are drug and alcohol, aged care and child and maternity related.

The practice has VMO rights to Stawell Regional Health which has excellent facilities and a long history of providing quality health care to the community. Services include acute care, emergency medicine, aged and disability services, psychology, indigenous health, O&G and mental health. Allied health specialists include social work, dietetics, cardiac rehabilitation, OT, physiotherapy, podiatry and speech therapy. A large number of visiting specialist services are available in Stawell including audiology, cardiology, oncology, ENT, orthopaedics, geriatrician/physician, urology, radiology, gynaecology, nephrology and ophthalmology.

OVERSEAS TRAINED DOCTORS

Doctors from overseas interested in this position are advised that West Vic Division of General Practice can assist them with the paper trail and has a great track record of assisting doctors from overseas into rural Australian general practice on a temporary and permanent basis, having completed over 30 permanent residency approvals.

Support is available through the West Vic Division of General Practice for doctors working in the Division who wish to progress towards their Fellowship with the RACGP.
