THE PRACTICE:

The newly renovated Medical Centre has serviced St. Arnaud and the surrounding district for over 20 years. There are currently two experienced doctors practicing at the Centre, the husband and wife team Dr. Darko Slipcevic and Dr. Vesna Slipcevic. Both doctors are dedicated practitioners and endeavour to provide their patients with quality services. Dr. Vesna Slipcevic also has a degree in Homoeopathy from the UK.

The St. Arnaud Medical Centre comprises of three consulting rooms, a procedure room, a consult / procedure room, reception area, waiting room and undercover car park. Currently the Centre aims to provide a paperless environment where all results are either downloaded or scanned directly into patient’s files for easy computer access. Hard copy paper files are available upon request.

The helpful, experienced support staff includes the Practice Manager, Jill Arnott – who has been working at the practice since it began, receptionists Jan Douglas and Lenny Rampova and on call casual / accountant Karen Russ.

CLINIC HOURS ARE:

- Monday to Friday - 9:00am to 1pm & 2pm to 5pm

- Saturday - 9:00am to 12 noon (when on call)

After hours and weekend cover is on a roster system. In an emergency patients can also contact the hospital.

General Surgeon - Barry Alexander visits alternate Wednesdays

Diabetes Educator and Community Health Nurse– Carol Tuder consults from the Medical Centre every Thursday

Ophthalmologist – Mr Maxwell Stubbs will be consulting soon.

Midwife – Antenatal checks every Monday

Echocardiograms – The Australian Cardiac Diagnostic Service

EAST WIMMERA HEALTH SERVICE

  • The St Arnaud Hospital is a campus of the East Wimmera Health Service, which has covers the townships of St Arnaud, Birchip, Donald, Wycheproof and Charlton.
  • The St Arnaud campus of East Wimmera Health Service has 20 acute beds and provides hospital and nursing services to the St Arnaud and surrounding communities. Services include acute medical nursing, palliative care, maternity and surgery.
  • Surgery services are provided at the St Arnaud hospital on a fortnightly basis
  • East Wimmera Health Service provides maternity services at the St Arnaud Hospital. This service is available to low risk births (not first child) as assessed by a General Practitioner.
  • East Wimmera Health Service offers centre-based activities for older people and people with disabilities who may be socially isolated. A range of activities are accessed as well as a group lunch. Transport to and from the Centre can be arranged.

THE WEST VIC DIVISION OF GENERAL PRACTICE:

The West Vic Division operates to support the community and General Practices in the region, and carries this role out effectively with a team of professional, friendly staff.

Doctors from overseas interested in this position are advised that West Vic Division of General Practice can assist them with the paper trail and has a great track record of assisting doctors from overseas into rural Australian general practice on a temporary and permanent basis, having completed over 30 permanent residant visas for doctors within the Division.
