STAWELL MEDICAL CENTRE:

The Stawell Medical Centre is a fully accredited teaching practice which is committed to providing a caring, personalised and high quality medical service to the Stawell and district area - as it has for over 50 years. It is well catered to provide qualified care with its expert staff which includes nine GPs (including two surgeons and two female GPs) a specialist surgeon, four part time nurses and ten administration staff.The Stawell Medical Centre providers a full range of services including surgery, anaesthetics and obstetrics. The building is the perfect setting for a busy practice with three treatment rooms, nine consulting rooms, two large waiting rooms, full disabled access and baby change facilities. It also provides doctors with the best possible administration assistance and a fully computerised system - including clinical notes.Doctors practicing out of the Stawell Medical Centre have VMO and admitting rights to the local health service - Stawell Regional Health, Stawell Helen Shutt Nursing Home and Eventide Homes.

CLINIC HOURS ARE:

8:00am to 6pm - Monday to Friday 8:30am to 6pm on weekends and most public holidaysAppointment times Monday to Friday 9am to 12:30pm and 2pm to 5pm After hours and weekend cover is on a roster system. An additional benefit is that after-hours calls are diverted to the West Vic Division of General Practice - After Hours Triage Service five days a week to enable calls to be screened

In May 2002, Stawell Regional Health underwent major redevelopment costing $7.8m, this redevelopment included: 29 bed ward and 6 day surgery beds pharmacy department operating suite accident and emergency department front reception imaging department

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF APPOINTMENT TO STAWELL MEDICAL CENTRE:

Attracting new doctors to our medical centre is important to us and more importantly, ensuring the doctor and family are comfortable and well settled into their new life in Stawell. In consideration to our doctor’s needs we include a vast range of added bonuses including: Conditions of Service regarding sessions, consulting hours, annual leave, are all negotiable - employee/percentage of fee for service or independent contractor 5 weeks annual leave and a week each for study and parental leave Cumulative sick leave Obstetric After hours and weekend cover is on a roster system with weekends shared with a neighbouring town to reduce the oncall and after hours commitment, guaranteeing every second weekend free from call.Consulting sessions are conducted in the mornings and afternoons. Visiting rights to hospital and Nursing Home.

OVERSEAS TRAINED DOCTORS

Doctors from overseas interested in this position are advised that West Vic Division of General Practice can assist them with the paper trail and has a great track record of assisting doctors from overseas into rural Australian general practice on a temporary and permanent basis, having completed over 30 permanent residency approvals.

Support is available through the West Vic Division of General Practice for doctors working in the Division who wish to progress towards their Fellowship with the RACGP.

West Vic Division of General Practice works in conjunction with RWAV (Rural Workforce Agency Victoria) to support our practices with workforce support.
